College Classmate-Turned Poisonous Colleague
Strange is the shocking fact about how docile people may come across and look harmless but have such ill intentions about you within them constantly thinking of ways to hurt you personally or professionally.
Imagine, you graduate from one of the TOP Colleges in the country, then get immediately recruited by an MNC because you wish to join the workforce early, gain knowledge and experience while you simultaneously finish your Post-Graduation. Sounds like a plan! And to top it all, you have a wonderful elder brother who shares your CV with the same MNC he is working for. And as luck would have it, it’s always right when they say, “Being at the right place at the Right Time.” And, you get hired and begin your awesome journey of a working professional.
2 years later, a junior is hired, and to your surprise it is a classmate from your college who was hardly an acquaintance. You studied a slightly higher or superior course while your classmate had taken up another combination. So, she decided to continue her studies with post-graduation while you were hired as a fresher by the MNC.
You train her, you share your knowledge and technical know-how with her because that is what true professionals do, they make sure they teach others so work never suffers. And you expect a great rapport being built, never knowing what this classmate of yours is thinking within.
One ordinary day when the team is having lunch, this bitter classmate who was always intimated, jealous of your success & hated that you are her senior even though you both are of the same age, being paid a higher salary and in a better position than her, wanted to hurt you in some way, and was planning to target you for long. What does she do?
During lunch, she casually brings in a conversation on who has completed their Post-graduation and taunts you saying you failed to continue your education while she managed to finish it.
How would you feel, after all the mentoring, training, support and encouragement you have given a Ms. No Clue who Knows Nothing to become a Someone with Something?
You smile to unconcernedly close the conversation saying that is why you begin your career early enough to give yourself time to acquire the required skills and experience to climb up the corporate ladder, and not to forget that a Post-Graduation was in the making and you are already on it and one doesn’t necessarily need to attend classes to be spoon fed.
Completing your education matters more than any Sparkly Job or Career that may attract you. But even more important is how well you channelise your energy, take up the opportunity when it knocks on your door, and make way for a bright future ahead. Everything that happens to you is either luck, good luck or Karma. Embrace challenges and never take up a road that your peers take as each one of us are different, unique and capable of larger things to achieve.
